Musings

Feel free to add your thoughts:

1. There have been many times I wish I had time to just sit and watch the the prairie grass blow in the wind. I think prairie grass is God's way of compensating those that do not live along the coast.

2. White noise- my favorite white noise comes from the old school style of cool mist vaporizers/humidifiers that were big and round and it only took seconds for beads of moisture to condensate on your face. Turn one of those on and soothe the savage beast.

3. After living a less than luxurious lifestyle for so many years (and now living where it's legalized) I am beginning to understand the lure of lotteries. Who wouldn't like to win a multi-million dollar jackpot just to get beyond the poverty level. Statistically, how many people that earn more than 100,000 ever purchase lottery tickets?

I love in Good Will Hunting when Robin Williams's character is asked, "Do you know what your chances are of winning the lottery?" and he answers, "One in four?"

My favorite white noise is the little box fan I put in my bedroom window to invite in the rain-soaked air and cool off my room after a hot day and a good storm.

I'm with you on the white noise - nothing does it better than an old-fashioned humidifier.

Lotteries - the rich man's way of getting poor folk to pay for everything without the poor folk knowing what's going on. The subtlety of it all is just too evil.

I would have to disagree with your characterization of prairie grass. While I'm sure it is beautiful to behold, there is none here in West Texas where I live (which place is also hundreds of miles from any coast). I, therefore, am left wondering why, if God used prairie grass to compensate those who don't live near the coast, He would forsake this place. The only logical conclusion I can come to is that He does not so use prairie grass or that, in the absence of prairie grass, He uses sunsets for said compensation.

P.S. - the best white noise is emitted by the little speaker above the Bishop's office door at the church. Were it not so, there would be an old school humidifier in its place.
