Everything is Bigger in Texas

It's true. Everything in Texas is bigger. So in honor of the the upcoming release of the latest movie version of E.B. White's book, I give you this.

Even though it is just a wolf spider and doesn't spin webs, it's still hideous.

So, why not just let the cat have at it? :))

Ewwwwwww. How big is that thing in comparison to, say, your hand? I hate spiders.

Pappy- our cat is smart enough to leave spiders alone.

Julie- actual size of this spider (with legs stretched out) is about 3 inches.

We lived in my cousin's basement when we were first married. You know, the kind where you enter from the back via a long dark stairwell.

One night I was skipping on down the stairs on my way home from somewhere and I turned around as I got to the door and right at face level on the wall behind the door--hence now mere inches from my face--was a big honkin' hairy dark wolf spider.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!

It made a lovely addition to my husband's bug collection!

Three inches!!! Now I know why I'm not in Texas! I hate spiders but especially big ones! I used to live in Mission Viego, California and we had big, hairy spiders there. I used to spray a dollup of shaving cream on them and they would suffocate. But I was too scared to scoop them up so Lee would come home to little dollups of shaving cream all over the house.

compulsive- I can kill spiders, but I don't think I could collect dead ones. I get all wigged out just thinking about it.

cari- shaving cream...who would have thought? I'll have to keep that method in mind.
